Hi @FRANCOIS15,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like your HP OfficeJet 5740 is not able to find the network SSID (PC network name) when attempting to connect it to your computer. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve this issue.

Verify Network Connectivity

  • Make sure both your printer and computer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
  • Ensure your Wi-Fi is working properly and the signal strength is strong.
  • Confirm that your router's SSID (network name) is not hidden. If hidden, the printer won't be able to detect it automatically.

Check Printer Network Status

  • On the printer's control panel, navigate to Settings > Network Setup > Wireless Settings and ensure that Wireless is turned on.
  • Print a Network Configuration Page from the printer to see the network status and IP address. Confirm that the IP address is correct.

Restart Devices

  • Restart both the printer and the computer.
  • Restart your router to reset the network.

Manual Network Configuration (if needed)

If the network SSID is still not detected, you can try manually configuring the network:

  • Go to the printer’s control panel, select Wireless Setup Wizard, and manually enter your network name (SSID) and password.

Use the HP Smart App for Setup

Try using the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device to help with the setup:

  1. Download and install the HP Smart app from the HP website.
  2. Open the app and follow the on-screen instructions to add your HP OfficeJet 5740 printer.
  3. The app should guide you through the network setup process and help connect the printer to the correct Wi-Fi network.

Check Firewall/Security Settings

If the issue persists, firewall or security settings on your computer might be blocking the connection:

  • Disable any third-party firewalls temporarily and check if the SSID shows up.
  • Make sure printer ports and IP address filtering are not blocking your printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
