Hi,
I am trying to install either wireless or ethernet drivers on this laptop but on a partition which has windows 7 pro x64 installed. The laptop comes with windows 10 so on the support page it only offers drivers for windows 10 which I all tried and none of them worked. I have installed hwinfo, which tells me the laptop has a Broadcom BCM43142 802.11b/g/n Wireless network adapter and the motherboard is a Hewlett-Packard 80B3. I've already installed the latest BIOS from 09/19/2016 F.41 and i've tried to install a couple of drivers by googling for the wireless card model and windows 7 but haven't been able to get it to work yet. All I need is to get either that or the ethernet working so I can install a driver install program and automatically get all other drivers. I hope someone can lead me in the right direction.
I've already tried installing the driver on this page: http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?swItemId=ob_133353_1 but I get an error while running the setup and then it fails to install.
Maybe I have to install some other drivers first before this can work, but I can't find them for this specific laptop and windows 7.

Hi:
If your notebook has the Broadcom wlan card, you need this driver.
Unfortunately, since you already tried the wrong version, the Windows registry has been corrupted, and the only way the wireless driver I posted will work is if you reinstall W7.
Of course you can try installing the driver now, but I am almost 100% sure it won't work.
The package contains the Broadcom wireless LAN drivers and utility that are required to enable the integrated Broadcom Wireless LAN Adapter in supported notebooks that are running a supported operating system.

This package contains the Broadcom Bluetooth driver and software for supported models that are running a supported operating system. Broadcom Bluetooth 4.0 Driver is required to enable Broadcom Bluetooth 4.0 devices and is compatible with Broadcom Bluetooth 3.0 and earlier versions.
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp72501-73000/sp72617.exe
Ethernet:
This package provides the Realtek Local Area Network (LAN) Driver that enables the Realtek Network Interface Card (NIC) Chip in supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system.
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp71001-71500/sp71191.exe
You should be able to get the other W7 drivers you need from the 17-g000 model except the BIOS and firmware files.

According to: http://support.hp.com/ca-en/document/c04951413
your computer was shipped with Windows 10 preinstalled.
Note that Microsoft will stop issuing security-fixes for Windows 7 in January 2020 -- less than 3 years from today.
At that time, you will need to re-install Windows 10, to continue to be "safe" on the Internet.
So, please tell us why you are trying to "downgrade" to Windows 7.
If your USB ports are working, purchase: http://ca.dlink.com/products/connect/wireless-n300-usb-adapter/
Then, see: http://ca.dlink.com/products/connect/wireless-n300-usb-adapter/
DWA-130
- Rev E- Plug and Play- Click for instructions
- Rev F- Install D-Link Driver- Click for instructions
- Click to download the latest driver- DWA-130_REVF_DRIVER_6.01_WIN.ZIP
Now, you have a working "wireless" connection, and can access the Internet, and Windows Update.

I have the wifi controller working so now I am going to install other drivers over wifi. However, the ethernet driver gives this error duing installation: 'The Realtek Network Controller was not found. If Deep Sleep Mode is enabled Please Plug the Cable.' I've tried running the setup a couple of times with the networking cable attached and not attached and also plugging it in after this message pops up but nothing changed. I'll be installing other drivers first. if you have an idea about how to fix this i'd like to hear them.
