Hi @TJ8799 ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with the drivers or settings related to your Wi-Fi adapter on your HP Pavilion DV7-4077NR.

Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

  • Update Wi-Fi Drivers: Ensure that your Wi-Fi drivers are up to date. You can do this by going to the Device Manager, locating your Wi-Fi adapter under "Network adapters," right-clicking on it, and selecting "Update driver."
  • Check Power Management Settings: Sometimes, power management settings can cause Wi-Fi adapters to turn off after a restart. Go to the Device Manager, right-click on your Wi-Fi adapter, select "Properties," and navigate to the "Power Management" tab. Make sure the option to "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" is unchecked.
  • Reset Wi-Fi Settings: Resetting your Wi-Fi settings might help. You can do this by going to Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi, then selecting "Manage known networks." Remove your Wi-Fi network from the list and reconnect to it.
  • BIOS Update: Check if there's a BIOS update available for your laptop from HP's support website. Sometimes BIOS updates include fixes for hardware issues.
  • Check for Software Conflicts: Sometimes, third-party software or utilities can interfere with Wi-Fi functionality. Try booting your laptop in Safe Mode and see if the issue persists. If the problem doesn't occur in Safe Mode, then it's likely caused by a third-party application. You can then systematically disable startup programs and services to identify the culprit.
  • Hardware Check: If none of the above solutions work, there might be a hardware issue with your Wi-Fi adapter or keyboard.
