What is your Pavilion laptop 15-cw0xxx ? Looks like it ONLY has a wifi adapter which supports 2.4GHz networks. For example the folloiwing machine can also see 2.4GHz networks only

              HP Pavilion - 15-cw0028au

The series supports following adapters

  • Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265 802.11ac 2 × 2 Wi-Fi + Bluetooth 4.2 Combo Adapter (non-vPro) part # 901229-855
  • Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3168 802.11ac 1 × 1 Wi-Fi + Bluetooth 4.2 Combo Adapter (non-vPro) part # 863934-855
  • Realtek RTL8822BE 802.11ac 2 × 2 Wi-Fi + Bluetooth 4.2 Combo Adapter (MU-MIMO supported) part # 924813-855
  • Realtek RTL8821CE 802.11ac 1 × 1 Wi-Fi + Bluetooth 4.2 Combo Adapter (MU-MIMO supported) part # L17365-005
  • Realtek RTL8723DE-CG 802.11bgn 1 × 1 Wi-Fi + Bluetooth 4.2 Combo Adapter part # L21480-005

Only the ones in red support 2.4BHz and 5/0GHz, some require 2 antennas.

Regards.

Accept as solution.

My laptop has Realtek RTL8723DE-CG 802.11bgn so 5ghz is not supported as per your list.

But 802.11n is supposed to support 5ghz; so just wondering.

Thanks.
