Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I was using wifi and in the middle of browsing it stopped working and would only allow me to use a wired connection. I have updated Windows. I have restarted my computer. The troubleshooter can't identify a problem. I tried installing HP wireless driers and neither of them seem to have be installed unless I'm reading this wrong.

Hi

Can you name the adapter?

This short script is to gather information on some parts of your system
OS, Networking Hardware and Software etc.

Copy and paste the section between the ~~~~ lines, into NotePad.
Save as CF4.bat somewhere easily accessible. Double click to Run

Hi

In two sections the WiFi is not showing, which suggests to me a Hardware failure.

Your Internet Beacon ping is the lowest I have ever seen.

5 ms, mine is 3 - 4 times that value.

The Bluetooth is also showing a problem and it is normally on the same adapter card.

HP Recommended

Ok but it works on my Ubuntu partition.

Hi

Well try and find the name like this..

Copy and paste the script below into a text editor and save it with a meaningful name like cf4.scr and then run it in a terminal something like this ./cf4.scr

OR Just use the individual commands:-
ifconfig
iwconfig
lspci -nnk | grep -iA 2 '^[^[:space:]].*net' | sed '/^--$/d; /^[^[:space:]]/ i\\'
lsusb
rfkill list all
lsb_release -idrc
uname -srvmpio
lsmod

as and when needed.

#!/bin/bash
clear
printf "Very BASIC Report details for WiFi. \n"
printf "NB:-Some commands might not run. \n"

printf "\n##### ifconfig ##########################\n"

I'm no Windows expert but when I checked my drivers it did not look as if there was a wireless driver installed. Somehow it got deleted (no I wasn't messing with it) however for whatever reason when I downloaded the driver from HP it did not seem to have installed so maybe I'm doing it wrong if it isn't as simple as running the program.

Thank you. That was it. For whatever reason it did not seem to work when I installed drivers from HP's driver page for my device.

For anyone else who has to use this method, hit start, search drivers, click device manager, find the new wireless driver and select it, enable the device using one of the buttons on the top row.
