HP Pen

I have a new HP Envy x360 2 in 1.  As I "read" the Settings section, this unit is Pen & Windows Ink compatible.  I am trying out an HP Pen (N-trig tech) with this device.

Is this pen supposed to pair with Bluetooth?  One comment I saw in reviews said it was not a bluetooth device.  I can write notes on a Sticky Notes App but am unsure if it is supposed to pair with the laptop (seems like it should }    Instructions and setup are pretty skimpy.

Could someone enlighten me about this HP Pen and this Envy x360 laptop?  or maybe point me in a good direction?
