HP Spectre x360 - 13-aw0204tu
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi, I have my HP Spectre x360 running on windows 11 and recently when i had to reset the computer from scratch, I have noticed that the system doesnt pick up signals from router more than 30 to 40 ft whereas my mobile phone has strong signal connection from the router.

If i am close enough or in direct visibility of the router it connects but as soon as there is even one wall it gets disconnected. I am tired to find the reason as to what has gone wrong here. Previously it used to Easily connect even in the far areas of the room with multiple walls in between but now it is not. Whereas the mobile phone connects it easily.

I have reset the system twice but the issue remains the same.

Hi @Vinzy,

Welcome to HP Support Community!

We noticed that this thread hasn't had any updates in a while since your original post; while this is rare, we didn't want this post to remain unanswered, so, here's the solution to your query. We hope it helps you and everyone viewing this post 😊

  1. Update Wi-Fi Drivers:

    • Ensure that your Wi-Fi drivers are up to date. You can do this by visiting the HP support website for your specific model and downloading the latest drivers.
  2. Check Power Management Settings:

    • Navigate to Device Manager > Network Adapters > Your Wi-Fi Adapter.
    • Right-click and select Properties, then go to the Power Management tab.
    • Ensure that "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" is unchecked.
  3. Advanced Adapter Settings:

    • Go back to Device Manager and open the Properties of your Wi-Fi adapter.
    • Under the Advanced tab, adjust the settings like "Roaming Aggressiveness" or "Transmit Power" to medium or high. This can sometimes improve connectivity.
  4. Use Windows Troubleshooter:

    • Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
    • Run the Windows Network Troubleshooter to potentially diagnose and fix issues automatically.
  5. Check Router Settings:

    • Ensure your router's firmware is updated.
    • Try changing the Wi-Fi channel on your router to minimize interference (this may be different for each router, so check your router's manual or manufacturer website).
  6. Physical Barriers:

    • Ensure there are no physical obstacles or electronic devices that might interfere with the Wi-Fi signal between your Spectre and the router.
  7. Change to 5GHz or 2.4GHz:

    • If your router supports dual-band, try switching the connection of your Spectre from 2.4GHz to 5GHz or vice-versa, depending on which band your router performs better.
