HP Spectre
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I can't get my HP Spectre 360 to recognise my iphone - either in iTunes or File Manager. I have tried different cables, different USB ports - nothing works. It does not recognise a device. I tried it on my old laptop and the phone is recognised instantly.

Thanks for the reply and trying a lot of troubleshooting steps, recommend you look under Program files (x86) folder if it not available under Program files.

Run HP Support Assistant to make sure all the drivers are updated. Click here to know about HPSA.

Greetings @Prue1

Welcome to HP Forums and Thanks for the post.

I understand that your iPhone is not getting detected on your computer, is that is right?

Not to worry, I will be glad to assist you.

Have you tried any troubleshooting steps on your own?

Is the iPhone unlocked when you connect it to your computer?

Do you get any prompt on your iPhone when you connect it to your computer?

Is there any unknown device listed in device manager?

May I know the exact product number of your computer? Click here. Please do not share the serial number of your computer.

Found this Apple article with step by step instructions, please try it and let me know how it goes.

Keep me posted.

Hi,

I have had problems from the moment I bought the HP with my iphone. At times it would connect and then other times the computer did not find the phone. Often it flashes up over and over do you want to trust this computer or do you want to accept you hit yes over and over. If I am trying to use my phones internet on the computer it just drops in and out all the time like it is connecting and unconnecting. I have tried different cables and different vga ports all the same problem. So a few days ago I got out my old computer - the iphone connects perfectly to the old computer with no issues, both recognised as a device and I can access the phone in itunes on the old computer. So it is an issue with this computer, not with the phone or cables. I have no other problems with other devices in the vga ports so that is not the issue. Yes the screen is unlocked. Yesterday we unistalled and reinstalled itunes. All windows, iphone and itunes updates are installed. Still didn't help. I went into device manager and updated the phone device driver. It shows up under usb and portable devices - sometimes - other times does not show up under portable devices. As I said the phone connection just keeps dropping in and out with the computer. If I go to windows explorer it shows iphone with internal storage. Yesterday it was not recognised at all as a device in itunes, I plug it in and nothing happens. I just opened itunes now and the phone flashed up briefly as a device and then said 'An iphone has been detected, but it could not be identified properly. Please disconnect and reconnect your iphone and try again,' I hit ok and the messages flashes up again and again. I had to unplug the phone to get out of itunes. It is a HP spectre 360 I bought it this year. I think it is a driver issue? Thanks

Hi,

I did the HP assistant updates and the file was not in program filesx86 - but of those files I showed you when I right clicked and went to details I could see the second one was an inf file so I went through the process in the apple link you gave me and it all seems to be working now. Thanks heaps, I have cancelled my Apple genius bar appointment for this afternoon!
