I purchased a seagate external hard drive as my HP Stream has NO storage. The Stream ( Running windows 10) will not recognize the seagate hard drive, but the hard drive does work on another computer. What can I do to enable my computer to recognize the hard drive?

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.
Let's try these steps:
- Go to the device manager.
- Expand the Universal Serial Bus controllers.
- Right-click on each entry and select uninstall.
- Restart the PC once done and then try to use the hard drive again. If the issue persists continue next step.
Next Perform Windows Update and HP Support Assistant:
To check for updates now, select the Start button, and then go to Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and select Check for updates.
Install updates from HP Support Assistant: Go to Download HP Support Assistant to install the tool.
- To open HP Support Assistant, double-click the HP Support Assistant icon
.
- Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.
- Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.
- Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.
- Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.
- Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

I thank you for the suggestions, but it still will not recognize my external hard drive. I first tried the device manager and uninstalled the usb controllers. Then rebooted ( which also ran updates). Didn't work. So I downloaded the HP support assistant and did updates there also. I did the more important ones, but not all because I am unsure what they were. So I still don't have the extra space to use.
