Microsoft Windows 11

The mouse specs say it was created for XP-Win 7(8).  Trying to connect it using it's BT, but Win 11 doesn't seem to pick it up when it searches.  New batteries.  Yes, BT is turned on, and I've turned it off an back on again.  UPdated all my drivers etc.  Is there a chance this mouse just won't work with WIn 11?

@HBonesP, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding HP Wireless Mouse X4000 with Windows 11!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

The HP Wireless Mouse X4000 is primarily designed for older operating systems such as Windows XP, Vista, 7, and potentially Windows 8. If you are experiencing difficulties connecting this mouse to Windows 11 via Bluetooth, it might be due to compatibility issues between the mouse's hardware and newer Bluetooth profiles supported by Windows 11.

Troubleshooting Steps

Here are some general steps you can try to troubleshoot the connection issue:

Check Bluetooth Compatibility: Ensure your computer's Bluetooth hardware supports both older and newer Bluetooth devices. Some newer Bluetooth hardware may not always be backward compatible with devices designed for older Bluetooth versions.

Use a USB Receiver: If your HP Wireless Mouse X4000 came with a USB receiver for wireless connectivity, try using this receiver. The USB receiver often offers a direct connection and can bypass Bluetooth compatibility issues.

Update Drivers: Even though you've updated your drivers, ensure both your Bluetooth drivers and any available mouse drivers from HP are the latest versions. Sometimes specific drivers need updates to handle older devices.

Windows Compatibility Troubleshooter: Use Windows built-in compatibility troubleshooter. You can attempt to run the troubleshooter and see if it suggests changes or patches to aid pairing.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
