Hi
I have a HP Presario CQ56 Notebook that has a malfunctioning wifi enable switch.
Unfortunatly I have recently removed the built in display as it was cracked and could not find a replacement. Most of the Keyboard also recently stopped functioning properly.
I have tried to follow as many solutions as i can find but all to no avail.
I have run the netsh cmd commands only to find an error " Device is not functioning properly".
Hp wireless assistant says its been disabled by the wifi switch and cannot be enabled by software.
I tried getting into the bios, but without the primary display it wont activate secondary display to show the bios.
Ive tried looking for a replacement keyboard from HP but its been discontinued.
I eventually stripped down the keyboard to look for a defect in the keymatrix only to find nothing I could fix.
I have updated the Ralink RT 3090 drivers, and tried to force a connection via the device properties.
I am currently using it with a external keyboard without a problem. I however cannot activate the wifi Radio interface.
Any suggestions as how to fix the issue before I Chuck out a perfectly fine laptop due to a simple error introduced by the manufacturer?
Kind regards.

Hi
Only that it is F12 and controlled by the BIOS.
I would fiddle with this....
POST hotkey delay (sec.)
―
Set the delay for the f1, f2, f9, f10, f11, and F12 functions of Setup Utility in intervals of 5 seconds each (0, 5, 10, 15, 20)

Do I need to go into the bios to set that up? ive tried getting into the bios with delete or F2 but it does not initialize the external display, meaning I cant access the bios at all...
I hope the info can help sort it out...
ive looked at the msconfig area as well, can't seem to see anything there either...

Hi
it was a long shot, but maybe the last commands here will work.
Is BIOS F10? may not be on yours though.
Press and hold the “F10” key as soon as the boot process begins. If the Windows loading screen appears, allow your system to finish booting and restart again.
First:- Turn off the computer, press and hold the PWR button for 4 seconds.
Then - Leave only keyboard and mouse connected, disconnect all externally connected
devices such as Docking Station, USB storage devices, displays, and printers.
Unplug the AC adapter from the computer.
Next - Press and Hold the Power button for 15 seconds to Hard Reset.
Rinse and Repeat
AND/OR - Power on your PC, press Esc (repeatedly), then F2 at the prompt.
Choose System Tests (Fast Test does a 4 minute hardware check).
AND/OR - Windows Logo key + Ctrl + Shift + B
(This key sequence actually restarts you graphics drive(W10 only).)
AND/OR - If you’re using multiple displays, try projecting video to a different monitor.
Press the Windows Logo key + P, select a display, and then press Enter.
