I have a new HP laptop that I purchased about 6 months ago. The bluetooth adapter doesn't turn off when I put the laptop in sleep mode. If I move the mouse the laptop wakes up. I checked the Control Panel settings to turn off the bluetooth adapter. Does anyone has the same problem?

  • Select Search automatically for updated driver software. If a newer driver is available, install it.
  • Restart your computer after updating.

Disable Bluetooth from Power Management Settings

  • Open Device Manager.
  • Expand Bluetooth and right-click on your Bluetooth adapter.
  • Select Properties.
  • Go to the Power Management tab.
  • Uncheck Allow this device to wake the computer.
  • Click OK and restart the laptop.

Adjust Power Settings for USB Devices

Update BIOS/UEFI

  • An outdated BIOS or firmware can sometimes cause issues with power management.
  • Visit the HP website, search for your laptop model, and download the latest BIOS/UEFI update.
  • Follow the instructions carefully for updating.

Change Sleep Settings

  • Open Settings (Windows + I) > System > Power & sleep.
  • Under Sleep, set it to a shorter time or try Never to see if the issue persists.
  • Also, under Additional power settings, adjust Sleep after settings to your preference.

Disable Fast Startup

  • Open Control Panel > Power Options.
  • Click Choose what the power buttons do on the left side.
  • Click Change settings that are currently unavailable.
  • Under Shutdown settings, uncheck Turn on fast startup (recommended).
  • Click Save changes and restart the laptop.

Perform a Clean Boot

  • Press Windows + R, type msconfig, and press Enter.
  • Go to the Services tab, check Hide all Microsoft services, and click Disable all.
  • Go to the Startup tab and click Open Task Manager.
  • Disable all items in Task Manager, then close it.
  • Click OK in the System Configuration window, and restart the laptop.

Check for Windows Updates

  • Go to Settings (Windows + I) > Update & Security.
  • Click on Check for updates and install any available updates.

Test in Safe Mode

  • Press Windows + R, type msconfig, and press Enter.
  • In the Boot tab, check Safe boot and select Minimal.
  • Click Apply, then restart your laptop.
  • Test if the laptop still wakes up during sleep in Safe Mode.
