Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

Internet company upgraded to 5G broadband and now my laptop won't connect to wifi, doesn't even list as an option.  Any ideas

Hi:

 

Most likely your notebook only has a wifi adapter that connects to the 2.4 GHz wifi band, so make sure that band is enabled on your wireless router.

 

If you let me know what model wifi adapter your notebook has, I will let you know if that is the problem.

 

You can find the model wifi adapter your notebook has, by going to the device manager, click to expand the Network Adapters device manager category.

Consider...

If your "Noteboom" computer is old enough to run Windows 7,

it is likely NOT able to support 5G network.

 

In General...

If the router / service supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz,

Make sure the router is broadcasting on both frequencies,

Assign a separate SSID named network for each frequency,

Connect the computer to the 2.4GHz network.

 

Ask your provider to help sort the connection / setup.
