Wireless adapter on my Pavilion dv6 laptop stop working. The F12 key on the keyboard does not turn it on. The light on the key is red regardless how many times to press it. Checked the window 10 device manager and the wireless network adapter does not display it. doing show hidden devices, and Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1000 show up. So update the driver and window 10 find it in local device drivers. However, the error code 10 returned when it loading the driver. Checked the event log of the notebook and it shows that the error is "Intel(R) Centrino(R) Wireless-N 1000 : The version number is incorrect for this driver." I tried many ways from searching google but could not resolve this issue.
Hope this community and expert would help to solve the problem.
Now, two question on my side.
1: Is the HP Pavilion DV6t-6b00 notebook comes with the Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1000 as wireless network adapter ?
This notebook came with window 7 and then updated to "window 10" 5 years ago. Asked Pilot and it says "The HP Pavilion DV6t-6b00 notebook doesn’t come with the Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1000". Though I don't trust Copilot on this, I need to confirm what is the wireless adapter came with this notebook?
If it is not but others, how can I get it to configure it with Device manager if the brand and driver cold not be find out by window 10 ?
2: If the adapter is Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1000, how I can find out correct driver version ? Using HP Support Assistant, find out this notebook with System board as 17FC 10.31 and System BIOS as F.02. Will someone find what is the adapter brand and version ? I just could not find these from google search.
Very appreciate your help.
Thanks

You're very welcome, John.
Unfortunately, I wouldn't know why the error status changed, so I recommend that you give up on trying to get the Wi-Fi card to work and use a USB Wi-Fi adapter.
If your notebook does not have Bluetooth, this handy little adapter is both dual band Wi-Fi and has Bluetooth as well.
I use this model on my HP desktop PC that did not come with Wi-Fi:

Hi:
The Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1000 Wi-Fi adapter has no W10 drivers.
There are several product numbers that the Dv6t-6b00 CTO falls under, but the parts list indicates the Intel Centrino 1000 was offered in the model series:
593530-001 | Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1000 802.11 b/g/n (1x2) WLAN module |
The notebook has a BIOS whitelist which prevents the installation of any other model Wi-Fi card from working.
If you can't get the card to work, I recommend you use a USB Wi-Fi adapter.
There are drivers available on the Micrsoft update catalog website but as you can see, they are all dated from 2014--one year before W10 was released to market., however Microsoft indicates the driver is good for W10.

Thanks Paul for your help and information provided. This is very helpful !
I got driver from MSFT Update Catalog and reinstalled driver for Intel NT1000 Wifi adapter. Also reset this notebook BIOS to factory default. Hoping doing these can get WiFi adapter work. After completed these, I saw the the device driver error code changed from 31 to 10 (Device does not start). Press F12 key on notebook could still not change light from orange to the white light. Do you think this is indication that the device hardware on motherboard died ?
Thanks for your recommendation. I will get an USB Wifi adapter if the adapter existing died.
Thanks
John

Thanks Paul for your help and recommendation!
I have tried many ways and so far could not identify this is an adapter device issue or it is drive issue. So accept your recommendation and gave up to troubleshoot this issue. I will buy the USB device as you recommended. This is not bad because I can get blue tooth as well that is missing in my old laptop.
Again
Thanks Paul for your help!
