Welcome to the HP English Community --

Unfortunately,  it does sound like you were scammed.

You were never talking to HP -- not.

HP does not free-post support phone numbers on the Internet.

When you submit a case to HP Support, the case is accepted as a Warranty repair, and you report computer or printer issues, HP does not sell you firewall software -- not.

It does sound like you let someone into your computer and network that you do not know.

So, yes, now you might have "hacker intrusion" problems.

Contact your Bank.

Perhaps contact your local authorities.

PayPal might not be sympathetic - authorized purchases are perhaps not subject to return of payment.

Online Case Submission to HP Support is available to those whose devices registered and are still in Warranty.

Some (Most) regions display phone / chat contact information only after the case is submitted online.

Not every issue is covered under the standard Hardware Warranty.  Purchased Care Pack Warranties differ by contract.

HP is not a "general" repair facility: Requests for out-of-warranty repairs are usually not accepted.

If the problem is hardware, if your device is in Warranty, if your device is Registered, and you cannot submit your case to Support, let us know and we will forward a request.

I seem to have been another victimn of a scam which is being operated inside the HP technical support system
I accessed the system in late afternoon 15.11.24 and registered my model 8022 email and phone,as my printer was failing to connect with my wifi
I received a telephone call shortly afterwards from an agent who took control  of my computer and
informed me aIhad been hacked by various invaders. He showed me a page of my activity monitor showing their names, such as Trojan
He said he would fix this  but that I needed firewall software and quoted one to five year contracts for this,as well as another product hiding my identity.
He asked my name and when I elected to pay for a two year contract he said that pensioners could get a discount on longer contracts, which I declined
He asked for my credit card but i preferred to use Paypal rather than give details. He then said he would clean my system which would take five to twenty minutes, then I would then hear from someone else
who would finish the job.He said he would send details of the software purchase ,which is attached. We ended the discussion ar around 1900
At around 7.00 pm I received a call from an HP agent working from British Colombia,he said this was because the evening work in the UK had shifted to his time zone. This painstaking agent
made various attempts to cure my printer problem and after a while succeeded at around 7.50 pm.I do not suggest that this man was not a bona fide agent of HP.My problem was certainly real, was clearly due to some kind of software trouble, and was solved during the call by him after various restarts. My computer remained in control of this agent  uninterruptedly from the time it had been held by the previous agent.Control was then returned to me

I then turned to the job of downloading the firewall software but found no notification of how to download it.I phoned the numbers given by the first agent but they either did not work or did not respond, and have continued not to respond. No details could be found from the apparent recipient of my funds, which seems to have nothing to do with HP.Its name has apprently been slightly altered by the addition of the letters LLC

I have since discovered that these scams have been reported constantly since 2022,also occurring within the HP domain.I have tried to report this came to HP but found no means of doing itthese scammers are clearly embedded in your systems, procedures and personal data access, and have been for some time. This is leaving your clients defenceless without any clear and specific warning being given to them
