Hi,
I have an old HP625 laptop that my kid uses. It has been updated with more 500gb memory and to 8GB RAM and Windows 10 Home. Obviously, it's old, really old, but the fan is making a load of noise and the internet feels laggy. I also replaced the old battery as the laptop wouldn't work without being plugged in but it only seems to have less than an hour of life. Is there any way I can eke a little more life out of it? I don't really want to buy him a new laptop just yet. Can I replace the fan or make it more efficient? And the wireless adapter? Any other suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
You can replace the fan on the notebook. quite easily. The part number for the fan depends if you have the 15" or he 14"/13" model.
You can see the part numbers and steps to replace the fan on page 59 of the service manual
http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02585536
Example (15" model)

You could try using a USB wifi dongle to get better wifi throughput.
Hope it helps,
David
