Hi @Jdb123999

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP device, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm here to help you today.

Are you talking about the wifi icon on the task bar,

Here's how you can get the Wi-Fi icon back on the taskbar:

1. Enable Wi-Fi Icon in Taskbar Settings

The Wi-Fi icon might be hidden in the system tray, or it might be disabled in the taskbar settings. Follow these steps to ensure it's enabled:

  1. Right-click on the taskbar (the area with the Start button, search, etc.) and select Taskbar settings.
  2. Scroll down to the Taskbar corner icons section.
  3. Under Taskbar corner icons, find Network and make sure the toggle is set to On.
  4. If it’s already On and you still don’t see the Wi-Fi icon, try the next steps.

2. Check the Network & Internet Settings

Make sure that Wi-Fi is enabled in your system’s Network & Internet settings:

  1. Press Windows + I to open Settings.
  2. Go to Network & Internet.
  3. Under Wi-Fi, ensure that Wi-Fi is turned On.

If Wi-Fi is already on, and the icon still isn't showing up, follow the next steps.

3. Restart Windows Explorer

  1. Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
  2. Scroll down and find Windows Explorer in the list of processes.
  3. Right-click on Windows Explorer and select Restart.
  4. The taskbar should refresh, and the Wi-Fi icon should reappear.

4. Re-enable System Tray Icons

If the icon is hidden, you can customize which icons are displayed in the system tray:

  1. Right-click on the taskbar and select Taskbar settings.
  2. Scroll down to Taskbar corner overflow.
  3. Make sure that the toggle for Network is set to On. This ensures the icon appears in the system tray.

5. Ensure Network Adapter is Working

  1. Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
  2. Expand the Network Adapters section.
  3. Look for your Wi-Fi adapter (it should have Wi-Fi in the name).
  4. Right-click the Wi-Fi adapter and choose Enable (if it’s disabled).
    • If it’s already enabled, try Right-click > Uninstall device, then restart your laptop. Windows will reinstall the driver on reboot.

I hope this helps! Keep me posted.
