Hi @Brotha,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are facing an issue with your HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer (N911a) continues to come on after replacing the ink cartridge, here's how you can resolve the issue:
Step-by-Step Troubleshooting
Ensure Genuine HP Cartridges Are Used
- Verify that the replacement cartridges are genuine HP cartridges compatible with your printer model.
Check Cartridge Installation
- Turn off the printer and open the cartridge access door.
- Remove the newly installed cartridge and reinsert it, ensuring it clicks into place.
- Close the access door and restart the printer.
Clean the Cartridge Contacts
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Remove the affected cartridge.
- Using a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water, gently clean the gold-colored contacts on the cartridge and inside the cartridge slot.
- Let the contacts dry completely before reinserting the cartridge.
Perform a Printer Reset
- Turn the printer on and unplug it while it is still powered on.
- Wait 60 seconds, plug the printer back in, and turn it on.
- Check if the trouble light persists.
Check for Error Messages
- On the printer's touchscreen, see if any error message explains the problem (e.g., "Cartridge Problem" or "Incompatible Cartridge").
- Follow any instructions provided in the error message.
Update Printer Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Ensure your printer’s firmware is up-to-date. You can download updates from the HP Software and Drivers website.
Inspect for Blockages or Damage
- Check inside the printer for any debris or damage around the cartridge area.
- Ensure the ink cartridge's protective tape has been removed (if applicable).
Reset the Ink Cartridge
- Try removing all cartridges and turning off the printer.
- Restart the printer without cartridges, then reinsert them one by one, starting with the trouble cartridge.
If the issue persists:
Run the Printer Diagnostic Tool HP Print and Scan Doctor
- Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor from the HP website.
Replace the Cartridge Again
- The cartridge itself may be defective. Replace it with another new cartridge.
Check for Hardware Issues
- Perform a hard reset of the printer. If no other solutions work, the cartridge slot or printer hardware may be faulty.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
