Hi @Lisasully,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The error you're experiencing with your HP Bluetooth hotspot, where it advises contacting the system administrator, can stem from various issues ranging from software conflicts, outdated drivers, or even system settings that might have been inadvertently changed. Here’s a step-by-step approach to troubleshoot and potentially resolve this issue:
Restart Devices: Begin with the basics. Restart both your HP device that's serving as the hotspot and the device you're trying to connect. This can often resolve temporary connectivity issues.
Check Bluetooth Driver: Make sure the Bluetooth driver on your HP device is up to date. Outdated or corrupt drivers can cause connectivity problems.
- Go to the HP Support website, find your device model, and check for Bluetooth driver updates. If an update is available, download and install it.
Bluetooth Support Service: Ensure that the Bluetooth Support Service is running properly on your HP device.
- Press Win + R, type services.msc and press Enter.
- Find Bluetooth Support Service in the list, right-click it, and select Restart. If it's not running, right-click, select Properties, set the Startup type to Automatic, and then start the service.
Remove Device and Pair Again: Sometimes, removing the device from Bluetooth paired devices and pairing it again can resolve the issue.
- Go to Bluetooth settings, find the device you're having trouble connecting to, remove or forget the device, and then pair it again.
Check for System Updates: Ensure your HP device's operating system is up to date. System updates can include fixes for connectivity issues.
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates.
Network Troubleshooter: Use the built-in network troubleshooter to diagnose and fix network-related issues.
- Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Status. Under Change your network settings, select Network troubleshooter and follow the prompts.
Firewall/Antivirus Check: Sometimes, firewall or antivirus settings can interfere with Bluetooth connectivity. Temporarily disable your firewall or antivirus to see if the connection issue resolves. If it does, you may need to adjust your firewall or antivirus settings to allow the Bluetooth connection.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
