Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I have a bluetooth keyboard

It connects fine to my android phone

I cannot connect it to my DV6 Laptop - I cant even see it.

Devices & Printers -> Right Click DV6->Bluetooth settings->Allow Bluetooth devices to find->Apply

prodices "Error Occurred-Bluetooth device might be unplugged

An attempt to install SP61660 (Blue tooth drivers) produces

"A newer version of Intel PROset/Wireless software for Bluetooth is already installed"

So what am I doing wrong?

Hi:

When you want to install an Intel Bluetooth driver in W7, you always have to first uninstall the Intel Bluetooth driver and software in the Windows control panel, programs section.

I assume your notebook has the Intel 2230 wifi adapter?

You may want to consider upgrading and replacing that card with this one...

Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 802.11 ac 2x2 WiFi + BT 4.0    HP Part # 710661-001

You can find the card on eBay.

Search by the HP part number, not the model of the wifi card.

Below is the link to the service manual where you can find the wifi card removal and replacement procedure.

Uninstall first. OK but why wold I want to install an older adapter than the one already installed? YOu telling me hte old one might work where the new one doesn't?

Intel 2330 adapter - Yes

What is the benefit of the dual band card? Does that mean that currently I can only do either wifi or bluetooth but with the new card I could do both at the same time?

A dual band AC wifi card will allow you to connect to the 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz wifi bands, where your notebook's existing wifi card only connects on the 2.4 GHz wifi band.

The wifi will also have a maximum throughput of 867 MBPS on the 5.0 GHz wifi band.

Normally, you wouldn't install an older driver.  But if you want to install any Intel bluetooth driver--older or newer, you have to uninstall the existing one first.

I have no idea why the Bluetooth isn't working with whatever driver you have installed.

If the device manager shows an Intel Bluetooth device is installed under the Bluetooth device manager category, and not a Generic Bluetooth adapter, then the driver is installed correctly.
