My HP pavilion laptop's mouse pad has become uneven. The left bottom side dips by about 1-2mm. Hasn't affected my usage too much but it annoys me at times. Took it to a HP service center. Dude said it's fine, use it like that. But it's not fine! Takes 5k INR to replace the mouse pad and idek if that'll fix the issue. Any other suggestions??

Hi @xionech,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand the mouse pad on your HP Pavilion laptop is uneven, here are a few things you can try before considering a replacement:

  • Check for Debris: Sometimes, dust or small debris can get under the mouse pad, causing unevenness. Try using a can of compressed air to blow out any dust from around the edges of the mouse pad.
  • Inspect for Loose Parts: If you're comfortable doing so, you can carefully open up your laptop to check if the mouse pad is loose or if there's anything pressing against it from underneath. Sometimes, a loose connection or an improperly seated component can cause unevenness.
  • Recalibrate the Touchpad: Go to Settings > Devices > Touchpad and see if there are any options to recalibrate or adjust the touchpad settings. While this might not physically fix the unevenness, it might improve the usability.
  • Update or Reinstall Drivers: Sometimes, touchpad issues can be related to driver problems. Go to Device Manager, find your touchpad under Mice and other pointing devices, and try updating or reinstalling the drivers.
  • Check for Laptop Body Warping: Occasionally, the issue might not be with the touchpad itself but with the laptop chassis being slightly warped. If the laptop is under warranty or if you can get it inspected again, you might want to have this checked.
  • Use a Mouse or External Touchpad: If the unevenness is only a minor annoyance and doesn’t affect functionality much, using an external mouse or touchpad might be a practical workaround.

To assist better:

  • May I have the exact name of the model of the product? Refer to this document for steps to find the product details. Do not share your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc.

I hope this helps.
