I've opened all the settings in Windows, and I heard that Wake on LAN isn't available in the BIOS, but I couldn't find it myself. How can I use Wake on LAN?

Could you let me know the exact model of your HP system? That will help me confirm whether Wake on LAN is supported on your hardware, since not all models include this feature.

In the meantime, here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

  • Check Device Manager in Windows:
    1. Open Device Manager.
    2. Expand Network adapters and right-click your Ethernet adapter.
    3. Go to Properties → Power Management and make sure “Allow this device to wake the computer” is enabled.
    4. Under the Advanced tab, look for “Wake on Magic Packet” or similar settings and enable them if available.
  • Update BIOS and drivers: Sometimes the option only appears after updating to the latest BIOS or network driver from HP’s support website https://support.hp.com/ .
  • Confirm connection type: Wake on LAN usually works only with wired Ethernet connections, not Wi-Fi.
