Hi,

I need help on how I can disable VBS on my PC, I have done everything everyone does yet it still says running.

I have taken the following steps  to try disabling Virtualization-Based Security (VBS) on my HP computer:

Summary of Attempts to Disable Virtualization-Based Security (VBS)

  1. Windows Security Settings:

    • Accessed Windows Security via Settings.
    • Navigated to Device Security and Core isolation details.
    • Disabled Memory integrity and restarted the computer.
  2. Group Policy Editor:

    • Launched Group Policy Editor (gpedit.msc).
    • Navigated to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > System > Device Guard.
    • Set Turn On Virtualization Based Security to Disabled.
    • Applied changes and restarted the computer.
  3. Windows Registry:

    • Opened Registry Editor (regedit).
    • Navigated to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\DeviceGuard.
    • Modified EnableVirtualizationBasedSecurity value to 0.VBS.png
    • Restarted the computer.
  4. Command Prompt:

    • Opened Command Prompt as Administrator and ran:

      systeminfo
    • Checked for Device Guard and Credential Guard status.
    • Executed the following commands:
      bcdedit /set hypervisorlaunchtype off
      bcdedit /set sg_none 1
    • Restarted the computer after executing these commands.
  5. Disabled Hyper-V Features:

    • Opened Windows Features and unchecked Hyper-V, and related features like Windows Hypervisor Platform and Virtual Machine Platform.
    • Clicked OK and restarted the computer.
  6. Confirmed Group Policy Settings:

    • Reviewed settings in Group Policy Editor to ensure all relevant options under Device Guard were set to Not Configured or Disabled.
  7. Checked for Conflicts:

    • Ensured Windows was up to date.
    • Temporarily disabled or uninstalled third-party antivirus or security software.
  8. Windows Recovery Environment:

    • Booted into Windows Recovery Environment.
    • Accessed Command Prompt and re-ran the bcdedit commands to disable VBS.

Current Status:

Despite all these attempts, Virtualization-Based Security (VBS) remains enabled on the system.
