Zbook Studio G5 X360
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I've looked in every manual I could find but without any luck. I tried pushing the sim-placeholder further into its slot hoping it would release it, but it seems stuck now.

How does one insert a sim card into the laptop?

I have the following model: https://www8.hp.com/us/en/workstations/zbook-x360/index.html

Thanks in advance

That is a sries of many models/products with many different hardware combinations/configutaions/options and WWAN card is an option.

Did you buy WWAN card option ? Without a WWAN card which is supported from your telephone provider your SIM card won't work. Please check Device Manager > Network to see does it have one of the following card:

● LTE CAT4: Huawei HP lt4132, LTE/HSPA+ w/GPS M.2
● LTE CAT9: Fibocom lt4210 LTE/HSPA+ w/GPS

If yes, please ask your provider: does it support that WWAN card. If yes you can use you SIM. then simply put your SIM to its slot and machine will see it.

Is really not so easy. I mean open slot for sim card. It's general problem. Anyone can show video instruction or something like that. Pleese.
