Microsoft Windows 11

Hey,

I have the following problem, every time my notebook goes into idle mode, i.e. the screen switches off after approx. 3 minutes when on battery power and 5 minutes when on the charger, the WIFI is disconnected. This is very annoying as I almost always use a VPN for work and therefore have to reconnect after every idle.

The only workaround I have found so far is to completely deactivate the standby mode under

System>Power>Screen and sleep - but that can't be a permanent solution either.

I have also checked my network adapter in the device manager (Media Tek Wi-Fi 6E MT7922 (RZ616) ), under Advanced there is the option Save energy, which is set to “Auto” by default, but even if I change this to “Off”, nothing changes.

Also, I no longer see a power management tab in the adapter options, I seem to remember that in Windows 10 you could say that the PC should not turn off the device.

I'm grateful for any help that gets me closer to a solution here.

you can select the network's power related settings in the Windows nic related power mgmt. setting

Power Management option for devices:

  • Click on Start and in search type Device Manager to open it.
  • In the Device Manager dialog box, expand Network Adapters, right-click on the Network Adapter, and then click Properties.
  • In the Properties dialog box, click the Power Management tab. The Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power check box is displayed.
  • You can also use this option for the device to save power by allowing the nic to power down when enabled/checked

Unfortunately there is no power management tab  in the properties window, as I mentioned earlier.

was not aware that this is a Wi-Fi Bluetooth only card without the wired network part

follow these directions for setting the windows based power options for your Wi-Fi card

Thansk for getting back to me and providing this article!

Unfortunately I dont have the Wireless Adapter Settings option in the dialog shown.

Mine looks like this:

Almost all options look the same, except that Internet Explorer and Wireless Adapter Settings are missing
