My WiFi is always disabled because Airplane mode is always ON.  As you can see in the screenshot, I am asked to use hardware to switch off Airplane mode, but I don't know how.

I would guess the little notice is suggesting that you to use a Wireless button on the computer to switch the wireless on / off.

Look for the little wireless light at the upper right corner on the keyboard area of the computer.  If the light is also a switch (click on it to test), the light will burn "amber" when airplane mode is on (wireless off).  The light will burn white when wireless is on (available  / enabled in Network settings).

@Dragon-Fur, thanks for helping me.

The LED is amber as you said, but pressing the button doesn't change anything.

I think I am facing the same issue as in this post: https://askubuntu.com/a/896431

My Airplane switch should be broken, and keep sending ON message to wireless device.

But how to identified the right card and the right PIN, as advised in that post ?

I have tried to disable anything Airplane from the BIOS, but I found nothing.

I am not running Ubuntu flavored Linux on any comparable machine and cannot answer the question about PIN.  Consider inquiring at the askubuntu forum where you found the comments.

If you have determined the issue is hardware, nothing you do with the software will make a difference.

In other words, you can click the button all you want and it won't connect to the network, even assuming you have the network correctly configured.

In general, switching airplane mode on / off does not impact whether the wireless is configured to connect to your network.

If the wireless hardware is functional, then the issue might be driver based (you need to install the wireless driver) and / or the issue might be related to your configuration - that is, the wireless must be configured to connect to your network (SSID for the supported bandwidth, security type, wireless password).

I have the same issue. It isn't hardware. The Wifi works fine under windows. However, as soon as I boot into Linux, it thinks the thing is in airplane mode. Nothing I do will change that.
