I'm looking for a recent driver for Realtek RTL8822CE 802.11ac pcie adapter, and I see recommendations from other posts on ftp.hp.com, for instance this one: https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp144501-145000/sp144871.exe

But how do I know if that is actually the correct driver?  I'm worried about running an unknown .exe file on my computer.  I wonder how people find the drivers, as nothing shows up when I search.

Hi:

There is a newer driver than that one:

2024.10.228.3       04/18/2023

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp148001-148500/sp148266.exe

How do you tell the driver is good?

You can look up the driver info from HP for that file number:

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp148001-148500/sp148266.html

Ignore the model PC's the driver was made for.

That's not important.

All you need to know is that the Realtek RTL8822CE on the list of supported Wi-Fi adapters the driver is good for.

You can match the hardware ID shown in the above link for your specific model Realtek 8822CE card's ID.

Great -- that's very helpful. Looks like that driver installed fine!
