Many thin notebooks now do not have RJ45 port for wired LAN. I'm using the following adapter

 

       https://www.amazon.com.au/Anker-Aluminum-Portable-Gigabit-Ethernet/dp/B00PC07T02

 

and I've got 2 more USB-3 ports. There are many similar adapter around from 1 to 7 ports
