Welcome to the HP English Community --
I do not find any documentation that says the pen must be Paired.
You say pen works when tapped on the screen - that means pen is connected.
The little slip of paper included with the pen is supposed to include basic "how-to" instructions.
There are two types of Bluetooth pairing -
- Device (pen in this case) is "ready to pair"
- Device needs a button / push to pair
If you want to test, simply switch off the Settings > Bluetooth on your computer,
Wait a few seconds,
Tap the pen on the screen.
Works?
No Bluetooth pair.
OR
No? Does not work?
Switch on Bluetooth - wait a few seconds - Tap pen on screen
Works?
Bluetooth automatipair
