Hi @Than1sh,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're having a couple of different connectivity issues with your HP Victus 15. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try.
5GHz Wi-Fi Connectivity
Check Wi-Fi Adapter Compatibility:
- Ensure that your Wi-Fi adapter supports 5GHz networks. Some older or basic adapters might only support 2.4GHz.
Update Network Drivers:
- Go to Device Manager > Network adapters > Right-click on your Wi-Fi adapter > Update driver. Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.
Router Settings:
- Ensure that the 5GHz band is enabled on your router and that the SSID (network name) is broadcasting. You might also want to check for any firmware updates for your router.
Change Wi-Fi Channel:
- Sometimes interference can cause issues. Access your router settings and try changing the channel for the 5GHz band.
Forget and Reconnect:
- Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi > Manage known networks. Remove the 5GHz network and reconnect to it.
Check Power Settings:
- Go to Device Manager > Network adapters > Right-click on your Wi-Fi adapter > Properties > Power Management tab. Ensure that "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" is unchecked.
USB Tethering and DNS Issues
Check USB Drivers:
- Ensure that the drivers for the USB tethering are up to date. Go to Device Manager and check if there are any issues with the USB drivers.
Reset Network Settings:
- Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Status > Network reset. This will reset all network settings to default, which might resolve connectivity issues.
DNS Settings:
- Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Change adapter options. Right-click on the network connection, choose Properties, select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4), and click Properties. Set the DNS server addresses to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 (Google DNS) or any other reliable DNS service.
Check Mobile Hotspot Settings:
- Ensure that your mobile device’s hotspot settings are correctly configured. Verify that the data connection is stable and that the hotspot is properly set up.
Reboot Devices:
- Restart your HP Victus 15, router, and mobile device to refresh network connections.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
