Nearly all routers have at least 4 NIC ports. That is a direct connection, all you need is to use a CAT 6 cable to connect your router and your machine.

The question is: does you machine have NIC (or RJ-45) port ? If not, you can use USB adapter. I'm using the following adapter for my machines (they do not have RJ-45 port, only when I run Windows updates for them)

Mines has aluminum case.
