I recently switched to HughesNet as my ISP with the HT2000W Satellite Modem/Router. I have modified my HP with a AMD Radeon RX 580 graphic card and a 600watt power supply.
I purchased a Plugable USB 3-e1000 Ethernet adapter that plugs into my modem/router (HT2000W) and then into a USB 3 (HDMI) in order to bypass my Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller (NIC).
The HughesNet ISP advertises 25 Mbps download and 3 Mbps upload, however it seems to runs much slower and constantly drops streaming downloads such as movies, which is very frustrating. Previously I had high speed DSL 6Mbps download and 1Mbps upload which was more stable and seldom dropped streaming downloads. The reason for changing to HughesNet is to receive higher download and upload, but with the latency effect it seems slower.
My question is as follows: Will the Plugable USB3-e 1000 help with any of these issues: (1) the download and upload bandwidth; (2) the stability of the network: (3) decrease the latency time; or (4) increase the internet download and up load speeds?
Any other suggestions on how to improve the HughesNet service will be appreciated. Maybe I should have stayed with the DSL ISP. Options on HughesNet or satellite internet service in general.
I have only two internet options where I live, the high speed DSL I previously had or satellite internet service.
Thanks in advance for your help and suggestions.
