I cannot get this printer to print  PDF files.  it prints other things just fine.  Even if I save a PDF to a documents file it still will not print them.  It says "This printer cannot print PDF files"  from any other device we have it prints PDF.

This is a HP laptop intel cor i7 64 bit with Windows 10.         The printer is HP Officejet Pro 8710     Thank You, Barb

HP laptop intel cor i7 is not a computer model name.

If you need to know your computer model, how to find:

Finding your Product Name, Product Number, or Serial Number

Please do NOT post the serial number here or on any public website.

In general, the printe software depends on you having Adobe Reader DC installed.

Adobe Reader DC – Needed Whether You Use It or Not

If you have not done so,

Reinstall / Update your PDF Reader (Adobe Reader DC /Optional  Foxit Reader)

HINT:  Watch out for and UNCHECK unwanted extra software

Adobe Reader DC software should be installed even if you do not open / view / print PDF files directly from the PDF software.

General Example - Use Adobe Reader DC PDF software to print document

Manage Print Output with Print Preview_PDF_1DManage Print Output with Print Preview_PDF_1D

Try using HP Smart for Windows to print your document (after the Adobe Software is installed).
