Thank you for posting on HP Forums,

Flower_Bud is at your service.

As I understand, your notebook has several black boxes popping up on the screen,

No worries, as I'll be glad to help you, that said, I'll need a few more details to dissect your concern & provide an accurate solution:

What is the product number of your device? Use this link to find it: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03754824

(Ensure you do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc...).

When was the last time it was working fine?

Were there any hardware/software changes made?

I recommend you attempt to access the BIOS screen by tapping on F10 while the computer is restarting,

If the issue persists in the BIOS screen which is outside windows, it would confirm a hardware failure and you will need to Contact HP to replace or repair the LCD,

However, if it doesn't show up in the BIOS, it would confirm a software issue and we'll need to reinstall or update the display drivers using the Official HP Website: Click here.

Keep me posted,

Cheers 🙂

Thank you for getting back to me, i bought this laptop on ebay a bout a month ago, and from day one its been doing this, the only time it does the black squares is when im on sites that have a lot of graphics on it as i am a graphics designer and i make css code themes/layouts for websites, and after a few minutes it starts the flashing with the small black squares, sometimes it subsides for a few minutes then does it again, dont do it on any other websites just sites with lots of graphics images etc, it also heats up so hot to the touch when on these sites and when i play games on my computer, so im thinking the graphic card is bad and needs replaced or updated, ive done a restore two times on the pc and did the updates to the drivers, thru hp assist, but cant remember if i did the update the second time

Which games are you playing?

Which software do you use for graphics designing?

Which websites does this issue occur on?

Let me know,
