HP Notebook P1A95UA
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I upgraded to Frontier 5 GHZ, and I see that my notebook is not recognizing the 5 GHz.

When I did a system search it showed the following:

System 1.PNG

I do not see the 5GHz under Network connections, even though I added it.  It does show up under Manage Networks under settings and I can't change it to have 5GHz on my computer.

I'm at a total loss at this point.  I not a total novice, but I am OLD (73) and I just can't figure out how to get a dual band driver on my computer.

Can anyone help me?

Thanks you

Hi, Patty:

The Realtek RTL8188EE wifi adapter shown in your screenshot report is only a single band (2.4 GHz only) wifi adapter.

It is a hardware limitation of the wifi card itself.

Thank you Paul.

How do I fix the issue with the WiFi hardware?

You're very welcome.

You would either have to replace the internal wifi card with this one...

Realtek RTL8821CE 802.11 ac 1x1 WiFi + Bluetooth 4.2 Combo Adapter (MU-MIMO supported)  HP Part # L17365-005.

That card has the same throughput as the RTL8188EE on the 2.4 GHz wifi band, and 433 MBPS on the 5.0 GHz wifi band with an AC router...150 MBPS with a dual band N router.

Unfortunately, that card has been on back order for months at the HP Parts Store, but you can find several of them listed for sale on eBay.

Here is the link to the service manual...

Or you can purchase an external USB dual band wifi adapter.
