Hi:

This is a peer-to-peer forum.

We do not work for or represent HP, so you are not a customer of mine.

Your notebook has a BIOS whitelist which blocks the installation of any model Wi-Fi adapter other than the ones listed in chapter 3 of your notebook's service manual.

Note:  Unless your notebook came with the Intel Wi-Fi Link 6300, 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi adapter, you cannot buy one of those because they need 3 antenna wires to work properly.

Make sure you buy a card that is listed for use in the UK.

In addition to that, the card you buy must have the HP part number on it or it will not work.

The best option would be to go on eBay, search by the HP part number of the Wi-Fi card you want to install and make sure you get one that actually shows a picture of the HP part number on the 'Replace with HP Spare' label.

Replacing a card in models with whitelists is often a frustrating process, so you may be better off purchasing a dual band USB Wi-Fi adapter.

I use this one which also has Bluetooth.
