I have a Star Wars Special Edition Notebook that came with an Intel Dual Band Wireless AC-3165. I have Verizon FIOS which is 100/100 and on their Quantum Gateway router. I have ran speed tests comparing this HP notebook, Dell Latitude 7000 and the Macbook Pro within my home and 1 floor below where the router is located. The results shows the HP notebook and Dell Latitude which avgs at 60/50 and the Macbook Pro avgs 100/100 where both were at 802.11ac on 5GHz band. In additon, I decided to run the HP notebook on the 2Ghz band to see the performance which was nearly the same performance as on the 5Ghz band. I already contacted Intel by phone and did a series of troubleshooting with no improvement at all so I was told to contact HP. I checked the properties of the Intel Wireless and looked at the Advanced section which seems to indicate only 802.11 a/b/g/n and no ac. Is this an indication why I am not able to get the full capability from the Intel Wrieless and it is a driver issue?
I have already searched for issues with this Intel Wireless adapter and can not find any solutions to make this perform to its capability. I have already performed updates through Intel and HP so I am stumped and don't know what else to do.

I happen to be in touch with my ISP regarding my router when I happen to bring up the low internet speed. The CS said she will boost the signal strength which can be done on their end. Afterwards, I did speed tests that is provided by the ISP and from Speed.net to see if it worked. Well, it did help and I was able to get the same speed that I chose under my plan. I am clearly baffled why the router was not suppose to perform as it should from Day 1. I did go into my router and browsed around and not seeing any function that I could do on my end to increase the signal. In addition, I thought I had a few laptops, with the exception of the Macbook, that were not performing as advertised and was growing in disappointment. If anyone who are experiencing similar situation as I have, contact your ISP as part of your troubleshooting steps.
At this time, I now consider this issue solved and closed.
