I'm struggling with getting my build-in LAN adapter to work. First of all, adapter stopped to work (no lights when ethernet cable is connected) so I've raised a ticket and support replaced following things:
- LAN connector (small pcb with also USB port)
- connection of connector to main board
After that lights started to bright when cable was connected, but ethernet adapter become not fully initialized in windows 11 (error code 11). In HP Diagnostics in BIOS it was shown as not recognized card. I've raised another request to support and they replaced LAN module and complete main board. After that problem still occurs and I'm unable to use build-in LAN port. Does anyone have some idea how to fix it? Is that windows 11 issue?

Since the LAN module and motherboard have already been replaced and HP Diagnostics in BIOS still doesn’t recognize the I219-LM, I’d lean toward something outside the Windows driver itself. I’d first check Device Manager for the exact error and try loading the BIOS defaults, then make sure the BIOS and chipset/LAN drivers are fully updated through HP Support Assistant or HP’s driver page for the EliteBook 650 G9.
If the adapter is still not detected in the BIOS diagnostics after that, Windows 11 probably isn’t the main issue and I’d have HP escalate it, since the hardware has already been replaced. It would also be worth testing with a Linux live USB if possible, since that can quickly confirm whether the LAN controller works outside Windows.
