HP envy x360 convertible 15m-bp0xx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello HP Community, I am new here, and a new owner of an HP Envy convertible.  Until yesterday I've been happy with the notebook, but have had quirky wifi issues.  Yesterday, the 5th after an update my wifi started going crazy.

I am running windows 10 64 version 1709 OS build 16299.64

I was in contact twice with HP support staff in India. The first advice was to reinstall the wifi adapter driver which didn't help, in fact it seems to be worse.

The second time I was advised to do a system recovery/reset. Did this to no avail.

I am at a loss of what to do.

Does anyone have an opinion if this is a hardware or software issue? And what solutions are available?

Thank you very much.

Try the Intel ProSet version of the driver software for the wifi adapter. use the following link

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/27309/Wireless-Intel-PROSet-Wireless-Software-and-Drivers-...

Power on the notebook and start tapping the F2 key to invoke the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI. Choose Component tests and then wireless adapter. Run the test. What results does the test return?

Have you tried using wireless in additional places, like friends and family homes or in coffee shops?

If wifi works fine elsewhere, the problem may be your own wifi setup at home.

Thanks for your assistance.- greatly appreciated

I installed the updated driver but no changes.  All indications appear that the adapter is working, but it isn't really...

I ran the hardware tests and all including the wireless adapter passed.

At home, I have 2 other devices online and not having any issues, so the wifi is working.

One odd issue randomly occurs - when I look for available networks it tells me nor are available, and a small red x appears in the taskbar wifi icon.... then randomly the red x turns off and I can begin to see a few of my neighbour's wifi networks, then it turns off again.  I cannot see my own network, which I have 2 routers.

It's baffling!

Thanks again

In the Network and Internet settings, you can configure the adapter's capabilities.

My current HP product loan Spectre x360 13-ac000 CTO ultrabook has the Intel Dual-Band wireless AC-8265 installed.

It has performed flawlessly under the same Windows 10 version yours has.

I suggest contacting HP for warranty service. Your wifi adapter or the antenna connection may have issues.
