Looking for answers if the Intel Dual Band Wireless AC 7260 Model 7269 HWM will work on my laptop HP Envy 6 W/Windows 10 without issues. My current wireless card is Qualcomm Atheros AR9484 802.11blgln. I am getting 500 Mbps on my phone(same location) but only receiving 50 Mbps on the computer. I also put a external wifi 5G on 3.0 usb port but still only get 50 megs download speed. Please advise. Thank you in advance.

Hi:
You have a HP Envy m6-1205dx Notebook PC.
I found this discussion where this question was asked, and the answer was that the notebook has a BIOS whitelist which will prevent any other model Wi-Fi adapter not listed in the service manual from working.
Solved: Wireless card Upgrade - HP Support Community - 5826802
The Intel 6230 dual band cards listed in chapter 3 of the service manual have the wrong part numbers and when you look the part numbers up, different model Wi-Fi cards show up.
This discussion shows where someone installed the common HP Intel 7260AC part number, and it did not work:
upgrading to dual band wifi - HP Support Community - 7012514
This discussion indicates that a certain part number Intel card will work in a similar model:
RT3290 wifi card replacement - HP Support Community - 7862600
Youi may want to try the Intel756753-001-part number and hope it works in your notebook too.
Another card you may want to experiment with is this one:
Broadcom BCM4352 802.11ac 2x2 Wi-Fi + Bluetooth 4.0 combo HP part # 724935-001.

What is the full model number or product number of your notebook?
To find the product number, click on the search icon on your Windows taskbar.
Type: System Information
The System information app should show up.
Run the app and the product number of your PC will be found on the System SKU line about 1/4 of the way down on the report.

You're very welcome.
Unfortunately, the product number you posted does not seem to match anything HP has in the PartSurfer database.
Enter the PC's serial number in the search window at the link below and see if it provides a model number or a different product number and let me know what you find out.

Follow up on my issue. After talking to Paul and doing more research I found a card on Amazon that worked. Before I inserted/installed the card, I downloaded the drivers to my computer and then installed the wi-fi card which worked without any problems. My download speed increased a little (about 25mbps) to about 75mbps. Not near what I was looking for...but every little bit helps. Like I mentioned before I have a Realtek #AC1300M 5G WI-FI plugged into a 3.0 USB port and now it is receiving 760mbps... but I guess the motherboard/processor cannot handle the increased mbps. See below on the item I bought from Amazon. The cost was $43.00

Paul...any other suggestions? I think that I will need to upgrade to an up-to-date computer. Your thoughts?
