Slim desktop

I am setting up our new computer. Error message, problem with wireless adaptor or access point. My adaptor worked fine on old computer. I have tried it in all 4 ports and rebooted my modem several times to no avail.

Could all 4 ports be defective?

Could my adaptor crap out all of a sudden?

  1. Restart your computer, just in case there are any semi-completed Windows Updates that are blocking some tasks on Windows.
  2. Right-mouse-button click on the Windows "Start" button on the bottom-left of your screen
  3. Click on Device Manager.
  4. Expand the "Network Adapters" branch.
  5. Do you see a description of your wireless adapter? Reply here if you do not.
  6. Is there a "yellow-triangle" present, to indicate that the required device-driver software is NOT loaded.
  7. When you try to connect via WiFi, do you see the names of several WiFi networks? Reply here if you do not.
  8. Do you see the SSID (the "name") of your own WiFi network? Reply here if you do not.
  9. Enter the password for your SSID. If it does not connect, you might have the wrong password. Reply here if you cannot successfully connect.
  10. Good luck.
