@Gigi_enterprise, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Let's walk through some steps to help you get your HP laptop with Windows 7 connected to Wi-Fi and updated.

Step-by-Step Troubleshooting

Check Wi-Fi is Enabled

  • Look for a Wi-Fi button or function key (like Fn + F12) on your laptop. Make sure Wi-Fi is turned on.
  • You can also go to:
    • Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center > Change adapter settings
    • Right-click on Wireless Network Connection and select Enable if it's disabled.

View Available Networks

  • Click the Wi-Fi icon in the system tray (bottom-right corner).
  • See if your Wi-Fi network appears. If it does:
    • Click it and enter your password.
    • If it doesn’t connect, try restarting your router and laptop.

Update Network Drivers

Since you mentioned you can't update your computer:

  • Use another device to visit the HP Drivers & Software page.
  • Search for your laptop model and download the latest wireless network driver for Windows 7.
  • Transfer it to your laptop using a USB drive and install it.

Run Windows Network Troubleshooter

  • Go to Control Panel > Troubleshooting > Network and Internet > Internet Connections.
  • Follow the prompts to detect and fix issues.

Check for Windows Updates (Manually)

  • Go to Control Panel > Windows Update.
  • Click Check for updates.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
