Hi @JayneGraves ,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The Nighthawk app is typically associated with Netgear routers, and it's unlikely to directly interfere with the connection between your HP OfficeJet Pro 9020 printer and your Mac. However, there might be some general network issues or settings that could be causing the problem.
Here are steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:
Check Network Connection:
- Ensure that both your printer and your Mac are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
- Confirm that the Wi-Fi network is stable and working properly.
Printer Connection:
- Make sure that your HP OfficeJet Pro 9020 is powered on and connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Mac.
- Check the printer display for any error messages.
Restart Devices:
- Restart both your printer and your Mac. Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve connectivity issues.
Printer Driver:
- Make sure that you have the latest printer driver installed on your Mac. You can download the latest driver from the HP website.
Firewall/Antivirus:
- Check if any firewall or antivirus software on your Mac is blocking the printer connection. Temporarily disable these security features and check if the issue persists.
Nighthawk Settings:
- Review the settings on your Nighthawk router. Ensure that it is not blocking the communication between your printer and Mac.
- If you suspect Nighthawk is causing the issue, try temporarily disabling any features related to network filtering or blocking and see if the printer connects.
IP Address Conflicts:
- Ensure that there are no IP address conflicts on your network. The printer and Mac should have unique IP addresses.
Network Troubleshooting:
- Use network troubleshooting tools on your Mac to diagnose any issues. You can use the Network Diagnostics tool in the System Preferences.
Reset Printer Network Settings:
- On the printer, navigate to the network settings and perform a reset to restore default network settings. Then, set up the wireless connection again.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.-
