Hi there,
My HP Pavilion has an integrated network card with type 10/100Base-T Ethernet LAN which means as far as I know my max internet speed wired is 100 mbit. My current wifi module is known as: 802.11b/g/n (1 x 1) en Bluetooth 4.0 combo. This wifi module is extremely slow. My router says there is a 64/72 mbit connection but when I run a speed test my networkspeed stops at approx. 15 mbit.
I want to know if I can upgrade my wifi module and if my network speed experience will become better after the upgrade.
Kind regards

I am the The_Fossette. It looks like you were interacting with @KrazyToad, but he is out of the office today so I'll take over from here.
I reviewed your conversation and I understand that you are facing issues with the Internet connection speed and you want to know whether you can upgrade the wireless card on your computer.
I checked the specifications of your computer and see that you can upgrade the wireless card and I recommend you go for the below wireless card.
Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3160 802.11 ac 1x1 WiFi + BT 4.0 combo adapter (with dual antennas)
For the slow internet connection issue, I recommend you follow the steps in the below artilce and check if it helps.

Welcome to HP Support Forums. A really great platform for posting all your questions and finding solutions.
I understand that the WiFi on your HP Pavilion 15-p035nd is very slow.
I'll try my best to help and we should be able to get this sorted out soon
May I know since when are you facing this issue? Are other devices connected to the same Router working fine?
Please update the Wireless driver from Device Manager
- Select the Start button, type Device Manager, and select it from the list of results.
- Look for Network Adapters and expand the List
- Look for the wireless driver then right-click it, and select Update Driver.
- Select Search automatically for updated driver software.
- If Windows doesn't find a new driver, you can try looking for one on the device manufacturer's website and follow their instructions.
- If these steps don't work, try reinstalling the driver: Open Device Manager, right-click the Wireless driver and select Uninstall. Restart your PC and Windows will attempt to reinstall the driver.
Next update the BIOS from this Link: https://hp.care/2KHyzag
I would also request you to go through this Guided Troubleshooter. Click this Link: https://hp.care/2IC6EIa
Please perform these steps at your convenience and keep me posted how it goes 👍
Thank You and have a Wonderful Day 😀

Hi There,
Thank you for your reply.
The network card has never been fast, but last weekend I replaced the harddrive with an SSD. From that point we started to notice the slow networks peed because the bottleneck had moved from the disk to the network speed.
Steps I've already taken are:
- Reinstall Windows (10 PRO)
- Install any applicable wireless driver (and ran speedtests between the installs & reboots)
- Install latest BIOS
Based on your request I've also walked trough the guided trouble shooter. unfortunately without succes.
Internet speed is still stuck between 10 and 15 Mbit.
Kind regards

Thanks for keeping me posted
Are other devices that are connected to the same Router working fine?
May I know from where did you get the Windows 10 OS Media? Was it a retail copy of Windows or was it the Recovery Media from HP?
Since the issue started after you replaced the Hard drive and reinstalled the Windows 10, it could be an issue with the OS.
If you are using a retail Copy of Windows 10, I suggest you reinstall the Windows using the HP Recovery Media.
Let me know if you do not have the Recovery Media.
Thanks

Hi KrazyToad,
Thank you for your reply.
All other devices are working fine with the same router. Even on phones we get speeds starting at 50 mbit going up to 150 mbit.
I've installed Windows 10 PRO from a retail copy of Windows. I can't reinstall windows from the HP Recovery Media because that wil install Windows 8.1 and then I have to reinstall to Windows 10 anyway.
Kind regards,
Niels
