Hi @Envryz
Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.
I’m sorry you’re having trouble connecting to your 5GHz WiFi network—it’s frustrating when the connection just won’t cooperate.
Let’s work through some practical steps to help your Intel AX201 adapter detect and connect to your 5GHz network again.
Steps to Troubleshoot 5GHz WiFi Connection Issue
Check Router Settings
Ensure your router’s 5GHz band is enabled and broadcasting.
Sometimes the SSID (network name) for 5GHz can be hidden or different from the 2.4GHz band.
Verify the router’s 5GHz channel settings (some channels may not be supported by all adapters).
Update Network Adapter Driver
Even if you’ve updated drivers before, try this:
Visit the official Intel website to download the latest Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX201 driver:
Intel AX201 Driver Download
Install the driver, then restart your laptop.
Adjust Network Adapter Properties
Open Device Manager → expand Network adapters → right-click Intel AX201 → select Properties.
Go to the Advanced tab.
Look for the setting called Preferred Band or Band Steering and set it to Prefer 5GHz.
Also, check Wireless Mode or 802.11 Mode and set it to include 802.11a/n/ac/ax (which covers 5GHz).
Forget and Reconnect to WiFi Network
In Windows Settings > Network & Internet > WiFi > Manage known networks.
Select your 5GHz network and click Forget.
Restart your laptop and reconnect to the network by entering the password.
Run Network Troubleshooter
Open Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
Run the Network Adapter troubleshooter to automatically detect and fix issues.
Check Windows Updates
Sometimes Windows updates include important fixes for network adapters.
Go to Settings > Windows Update and ensure your system is fully updated.
If these steps don’t resolve the issue, I can guide you through advanced troubleshooting or hardware checks. Please let me know how it goes.
If my response helped, please mark it as an Accepted Solution! ✅ It helps others and spreads support. 💙 Also, tapping "Yes" on "Was this reply helpful?" makes a big difference! Thanks! 😊
