HP Stream Laptop 14-cb0xx
Microsoft Windows 10 IOT

I bought a hp stream about four days ago. Everytime I connect to public wifi it connects for about five minutes then bounces off. The wifi icon shows perfect four bar signal but I can't access the internet. I reconnect and it happens again like clockwork. My driver is up to date, it should be all factory settings. How do I stop this, it's extremely annoying. My home private wifi seems ok.

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:

  • Right click on the start button and select Device manager.
  • Double click on "Network Adapter" and look for any driver with "wireless" in its name
  • Look for "wireless" driver under Network Adapters
  • Uncheck to disable "Allow the computer to turn off the device to save power"

If the issue persists, try changing the power options of your laptop. Follow these steps:

  • Press Windows logo key on the keyboard, type Power Options and select the topmost search result.
  • Click on Change when the computer sleeps option from the left side panel of the window and click on Change advanced power settings.
  • Expand Sleep>Sleep after and choose Never from the drop down bar.
  • Click on Apply and OK after setting the time.
  • Close the window and check if the changes are effective.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
