I bought a hp stream about four days ago. Everytime I connect to public wifi it connects for about five minutes then bounces off. The wifi icon shows perfect four bar signal but I can't access the internet. I reconnect and it happens again like clockwork. My driver is up to date, it should be all factory settings. How do I stop this, it's extremely annoying. My home private wifi seems ok.

@hc1059
Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.
I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:
- Right click on the start button and select Device manager.
- Double click on "Network Adapter" and look for any driver with "wireless" in its name
- Look for "wireless" driver under Network Adapters
- Uncheck to disable "Allow the computer to turn off the device to save power"
If the issue persists, try changing the power options of your laptop. Follow these steps:
- Press Windows logo key on the keyboard, type Power Options and select the topmost search result.
- Click on Change when the computer sleeps option from the left side panel of the window and click on Change advanced power settings.
- Expand Sleep>Sleep after and choose Never from the drop down bar.
- Click on Apply and OK after setting the time.
- Close the window and check if the changes are effective.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
Please click “Accept as Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.
