Dear Community,

We started installing E24m G4 displays instead of the USB-C G5 docking station + regular display workstation setup. The LAN cable is connected to the display, the notebook is connected to the display as well via USB-C cable. It's a really convenient setup, integrated mic+speakers are performing quite well during calls. But something seems to be wrong with the Ethernet connection.

Affected users are reporting that the LAN connection is being dropped repeatedly. (Cisco AnyConnect client is reconnecting to LAN by various frequency.)

What we already have tried:

- notebook BIOS update

- display FW update

..neither of them helped.

When the LAN cable is connected directly to the notebook (using an Ethernet-USB-C adapter) there's no dropping of the LAN connection.

What we haven't tried so far is the mysterious "All Docks Ethernet Driver". I haven't found detailed description of this driver, what's it for, why is it needed, for which docking devices is it for, etc. Before bothering users again with another round of testing I'm asking you for any input on this case.

Thanks in advance!

Hello @Weekend_Warrior

(1) You have proceeded correctly, updated "all" firmware of all devices involved, good.

(2) Try disable IPv6 for the "All Docks Ethernet Driver"

[ In many cases causes performance problems if not used properly ! ]

(3) Test again

Thank you for your quick response. I tried installing this driver pack (version 2.0.1.1) on my own EliteBook 840 G7. The installation wizard led to a command prompt window that was showing for some seconds then disappeared. Since then I cannot find any evidence if anything was installed at all.

Checked Device Manager, Network Connection in Control Panel, applications in Add or Remove programs. Couldn't find anything like "All Docks Ethernet Driver". It's strange.

So I don't see any option to disable IPv6 for a such network adapter. Should I disable it on the regular Realtek USB GbE Family Controller?

Yes you can, but make a note of all IPv6 settings, even if it is DHCP, before you disable it !

Hello @Ub6424,

Tried disabling IPv6 for the Realtek USB GbE Family Controller - didn't work either. User reported disconnections after a short while.

I need to highlight that before changing to this setup the user had been using his notebook with a USB-C G5 docking station - it was working fine without any LAN disconnection. As nothing else left to try it's safe to state that HP's high-end notebook with latest BIOS fw and drivers doesn't work well with HP's latest, advanced office display.

So far I've ordered cca 25 of these E24m G4 displays, now I'm quite worried abut affected users' LAN connection stability. I'm going to raise a service call to HP.
