HP Envy 17.3 inch Laptop PC 17-cw0000 (761Z0AV)

The very day my laptop product support expired (3/18/25), I began to have wireless connection issues. I made sure I I had not missed any Windows updates. One that was available was the Windows 24H2 Features update. It did not fix the issue. It only got worse. I have reset the OS 6 (six) times to no avail. I've finally purchased an Ethernet cable/USB c to Ethernet Adapter. I am still experiencing connection loss. The laptop is barely a year old. What next?

Hi @Cher34,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your laptop!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

1. Update Network Drivers

  • Visit the HP Support website and download the latest drivers for your network adapter.
  • Install the drivers and restart your laptop.

2. Check Router Settings

  • Ensure your router firmware is up-to-date.
  • Try connecting your laptop to a different network to rule out issues with your router.

3. Change Wireless Settings

  • Access your router settings and change the channel. Sometimes interference on certain channels can cause connection issues.
  • Switch between 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands to see if one provides a more stable connection.

4. Disable Power Saving for Network Adapter

  • Open Device Manager.
  • Navigate to "Network adapters" and select your WiFi adapter.
  • Right-click and select "Properties".
  • Under the "Power Management" tab, uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power".

5. Reset Network Settings

- Open Settings and navigate to "Network & Internet". - Click on "Status" and scroll down to "Network reset". - Click "Reset now" and follow the prompts to reset all network adapters. - Restart your laptop.

6. Run Network Troubleshooter

  • Type "Troubleshoot settings" in the Windows search bar.
  • Select "Internet Connections" and run the troubleshooter.

7. Scan for Malware

  • Sometimes malware can interfere with network connections. Use Windows Defender or another reputable antivirus program to scan your laptop.

8. Check for Windows Updates Again

  • Go to "Settings" > "Update & Security" > "Windows Update".
  • Check for updates and install any pending updates.

I hope this helps.
