I factory reset my laptop and I now cannot connect to the internet at all. There are no wifi options at all even though my router is completely fine. It says that it cannot locate any connections but my phone is connected to my internet. Please help me! I’m so confused as I don’t know what I’ve done and I am not that technical either.

Hi @E119,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Notebook - 15 laptop is unable to find any wireless networks, there are several potential reasons and troubleshooting steps you can follow to resolve the issue.
Check Wi-Fi Hardware Switch:
- Ensure that the Wi-Fi hardware switch on your laptop is turned on. This switch is often located on the sides of the laptop or on the keyboard. Make sure it's in the "on" position.
Check Airplane Mode:
- Make sure that your laptop is not in Airplane Mode, as this disables all wireless communication, including Wi-Fi. You can disable Airplane Mode in the Windows settings.
Restart Your Laptop:
- Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve connectivity issues. Restart your laptop and check if Wi-Fi is working afterward.
Update Wi-Fi Drivers:
- Outdated or corrupted Wi-Fi drivers can cause connectivity problems. Update your Wi-Fi drivers to the latest version from the HP website or using the Device Manager in Windows.
Check for Physical Damage:
- Examine the Wi-Fi adapter and the antenna cables for any physical damage. If you notice any issues, consider getting it repaired or replaced.
Reset Network Settings:
- Resetting your network settings can often help. To do this:
- Go to "Settings" > "Network & Internet" in Windows 10 or "Settings" > "Network & Internet" > "Status" in Windows 11.
- Scroll down and click on "Network reset."
- Follow the on-screen instructions to reset your network settings. Note that this will remove all network-related settings, including saved Wi-Fi passwords, so be prepared to reconfigure your network connections.
Check Wi-Fi Router/Access Point:
- Ensure that your Wi-Fi router or access point is working correctly. Check if other devices can connect to it. If other devices are also unable to connect, there may be an issue with your router.
Check Wi-Fi Network Availability:
- Ensure that there are Wi-Fi networks available in your area. If you are in a remote location or there are no available networks, this could be the reason.
Security Software/Firewall:
- Check if any security software or firewall settings on your laptop are blocking Wi-Fi connections. Temporarily disable such software to see if it resolves the issue.
Operating System Updates:
- Ensure that your laptop's operating system is up to date. Sometimes, system updates can resolve compatibility issues.
Hardware Troubleshooting:
- If none of the above steps work, there could be a hardware issue with your laptop's Wi-Fi adapter.
By following these steps, you should be able to identify and potentially resolve the issue with your HP Notebook - 15 laptop not finding any Wi-Fi networks.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
