HP ENVY x360 15-ee0000na
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I've had this laptop exactly two weeks today.  I am very pleased with it.  However, about five or six days ago the laptop would randomly close down its connection to wi-fi. The only thing that reactivates it is to do a restart.  This happens once or twice a day and only when I'm not using it. The laptop is turned on approximately 10am to 5pm daily but there are various periods throughout the day when it is dormant. I've checked the network adapter's drivers and they're up-to-date. There was a Windows update around the time the problem started. I activated the trial of McAfee about this time also. Also, the first week I had it, I was using it pretty constantly all day and maybe not giving it a chance for the wi-fi to switch off so maybe the issue was there all the time but it didn't rear its ugly head!. Any thoughts guys?

Glad it's fixed.

I never use hibernation.

I never even use Fast Start.

Dislike both.

Sleep (and, of course, "off") disconnects the connection but it always recovers when the system is awakened.

So - different situation from yours, I think.

Switching off hibernation is a reasonable solution in my opinion and need not be considered a workaround.

Use what works.

Thanks for your help. Unfortunately I come up against problems in both methods that you've suggested.

Suggestion1: I get to the CONFIGURE part and then there is no POWER MANAGEMENT tab;

Suggestion 2. I get down and select ADVANCED POWER SETTINGS but there is no setting of WIRELESS ADAPTER SETTINGS to be seen.

In the meantime I've changed the POWER/SLEEP on the plugged in setting from 10 MINUTES to NEVER.  In the long term I don't want to have to set it this way but let's see what happens  with this parameter set. I would to think that my problem occurs when the laptop hasn't been touched for between one and two hours. Let's see . . .

Regards, Martin.

Further to my last message, I left the laptop without doing anything on it for 3½ hours after having set HIBERNATION to NEVER and the internet connection was NOT lost, which is of course the result that I wanted. It might seem a workaround but is it the real answer - shouldn't the laptop be hibernated when not in use? In a perfect world I should be able to hibernate the laptop without the internet connection being lost when I return to it in, say, two hours . . .
